Hi Can i have some advice please.
My front brake shoes are worn out. Can i change the front shoes without haveing to bleed the brakes.
And would it be advisable to Change the Front brake drums too?
Thanks in advance Tomas

Re: Brakes
There should be no need to bleed the brakes if they are working correctly. Normally the drums would be OK unless they are scored, it is sufficient to replace the shoes on both front wheels
If you are not sure what you are doing then get some help, you cannot afford to take risks with brakes

Re: Brakes
Are they 7" or 8" size? No need for bleeding. How do you know they are worn out if you haven't had the drums off? And no - don't rush to fit new drums - some new supplies these days appear to be oval and/or not correctly centred on the hub location. So even if the old drums have some light scoring - stick with them.......

Hi Bmc its me again
Thanks for your advice on the brakes.
No i have not checked the drums my way of thinking was they might be more efficient with new drums.and might brake better. Just a thought!` I thought A 1960 948 had 7 inch Brakes? and later moggs had 8 inch Brakes?

And by the way if anyone eles is reading this iv ordered some dust masks, (Nasty Asbestos beware)

Re: Brakes
Someone may have (wisely) updated the car to the much better 8" front drums..... Standard/cheap dust masks are not good enough for asbestos..... But the reality is - there is unlikely to be much asbestos about - as long as you don't 'blow' it away (and then breathe in the dust) you will be fine. Wipe it away with a soaking wet rag and then dump the rag......
