Re: no lock
You would have to change the entire door for one off a later car.....

Re: no lock
It should have a lock inside the car - little lever high on the rear edge of the inner frame that you flip.

Re: no lock
2-door or 4-door? The locks are slightly different in operation. You can use a lock from a later car to get a key on the outside, but rather than fitting a new door, on some models you can just drill a hole for the key - hence my question.

Re: no lock
Until 1963 only the right hand door was fitted with an external key lock, and that included LHD exports. To gain entry the driver had to unlock the passenger door, lean across and pull the drivers door handle and walk around the car and climb in the driver's side, if the wind had not blown the door closed.

Re: no lock
If its a four door you push the internal door handle forward to lock it from the inside.
Too many Minors so little time.....

Interesting and infuriating to those who drive on the wrong side of the road. The Morris Minor never had much of an export market in the U.S. Austin famously earned the most dollars for Britain after the war by exporting shiploads of A40 Devons to the U.S. The Devon is probably a rare sight on U.S. roads now but I know for sure that it was Austin, not Morris, who had the U.S. market.

Re: no lock
I think I remember the guy who sold me my splitscreen 2 door telling me he had a locking pin/latch put in. Don't know if this was true or not but how else would you unlock the door?
Can you push the passenger handle forward to lock it?

Re: no lock
As it's a 2-door, pushing the lever forward is not an option, but there should be a small lever at the back of the door, on the inside, a couple of inches below the bottom of the window, and close to the rear edge. The lever will turn forwards and up through 90 degrees to lock (horizintal) and down to vertical to unlock. If the lever is missing, is there a hole in the door in the right place?

Re: no lock
I don't think this part is available new from Morris suppliers, but if you put a request in the Wanted section of this board I'm certain someone will have spares.

Hi,
Bull Motif do them for both doors, see the above links. I bought one for my drivers door, so I could lock it from the inside, should the need arise. Works a treat!
Best wishes,
Mike.

Works a treat until you leave the keys in the ignition:- Lock door, open door with handle, get out of car, slam door, oops keys in ignition, doors locked
