Head studs

Post by welshrat »

Looking to purchase a set of head studs for a midget 1275, just wondering if they are the same as the studs in a minor 1098 and 948, if they are it will probably make my life a lot easier.

Similar - but you would do better to buy the latest 1275 ones. These are higher rated, and used with a flanged head nut are tightened to 50 ft lbf.

Once again thank you for the info BMC (do you know who sells them), when you say similar, does this mean they will fit and do the job? or will fit but to much of a risk to use?

They will fit of course - but won't take the higher load...... Minispares/minisport - but not inexpensive. Or see MOSS... http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewP ... dexID=1375 Items 10,11 and 15...

The studs you mention are/were identified by a dimple on the top.

Yes - the dimple studs are better, but better still are the later studs marked with a T (or Y) depending how you see it, on the top.
