Wiring a voltage regulator for fuel gauge into a 1956 morris

Post by Peterkidd »

Hi everyone, my 1956 fuel gauge has died, I've been told the only replacement requires a voltage regulator which I have located on ebay

The issues are as follows, my mark 2 1956 split screen has a group of two wires going to the fuel gauge and a signal wire. They are all cream, I don't know anything about electrics, how do i wire these into the regulator to make the later type gauge work. The car has been made negative earth
Photos are best as wire diagrams mean little
Thanks Peter

The later fuel gauge is a completely different arrangement. Just fix what you have - what's wrong with it?

It is probably easier to pick up a used speedo with a fuel gauge attached. If you intend using the speedo then check that it has the same TPM, the 4 fig no. on the dial after the serial no.
Meanwhile carry a dipstick and spare can of fuel
