That nut is a plug.peetee59 wrote:Hi folks have noticed a very slight leak from the diff, the nut at the bottom is leaking, any way of recifying this???

If its a taper thread tighten it, if it still leaks drain the oil by removing said plug and add ptfe (plumbers) thread tape to the plug thread, wind it on clockwise, (if you wind the other way when you tighten it will peel off,) and retighten.Put the oil back in.
If its a parallel thread it has a seal that looks like a washer, take out the plug and fit a new copper washer, put the plug back in no thread tape required.Put the oil back in.
Or buy new hypoid oil while youre on.

If it tightens and seals agreed, if it still leaks then you could keep tightening till something cracks or fit a bit of thread tape.bmcecosse wrote:It is taper - it does not need thread tape......
