What would be the average price for an exchange/reconditioned 948 gearbox and would it be an advantage to fit a 1098 box to the 948 engine?
I suspect a recon 948 box would cost a similar amount to a recon 1098 box. It's the secondhand value of a used 948 box that's much less - £100 is pretty steep for a 948 item, but would be about normal for a known good 1098 one.
IIRC the 1098 box has better synchromesh than the 948 one, but I doubt there's a lot of point in the swap if your box is OK.
