Thanks,

You dont need to jack up to fit the front bump stops they bolt through the inner wing via the engine bay. They are "Handed" though and usually need some "fine adjustment" ( mole grips will do at a pinch) to fit as they don't always match the contours of your,by now, bespoke built car. As far as I can remember without looking I don"t THINK the rears require you to jack the car either?

At the rear - you need to remove the U bolts holding the spring/axle together. So -best put a jack under the spring pads - but leave room to undo the nuts on the U bolts !

With both, it's a lot easier to do the job with the wheel off - and that means supporting the car! Always use proper stands and do not rely on a jack when working on the car. To raise the car on the jack, use a block of wood between the jack and the car. Position it at the front of the chassis leg, spanning both sides of the leg, and the front tie-rod mounting bracket. At the rear, you can initially jack on the diff casing in the centre of the axle (assuming a trolley jack with a large cup) or under the shock absorber mounting brackets on the springs. You will then need to position supports as required.

It hasn't been said here - but NEVER EVER use the standard issue jack to lift the car for any reason whatsoever..... It's just for show. Carry a small trolley jack at all times.
