Truion check
Hi what's the correct way to check for wear on the top and bottom trunion
Re: Truion check
You can rock the wheel while it's jacked up - but really - strip down is the best way.......

Re: Truion check
For checking would you jack up under the chassis or the bottom suspension to feel for. Play

Re: Truion check
You need to take the tension off the trunnions to feel for wear ie jack up up under he bottom arm so that the shock absorber arm just clears the lower bump stop
Hopefully this won't be an endless thread on what is a simple check

Re: Truion check
I don't see the need for that - if it's worn, it will be obvious. But I still advocate a strip down as the best way to inspect the threads and test the 'fit'.

Re: Truion check
The method millerman describes is how my MOT guy used to do it.
Once the pressure was off the trunnion he would lever it up gently and look for movement between the trunnion and upright.

'Quite a clunk'?
I would check the 4 fixing bolts on each the front shock absorbers first. You will need to bend back the locktab carefully, check the bolts and re-secure the locktab. This is a common source of 'clunking'.

Re: Truion check
will do , im thinking it must be coming from the front suspension because when my buddy who is quite a large guy to say the least is in the passenger seat the clunking is no where near as bad as when im driving alone, many thanks
