Your car featured in a new British Feature Film?

Post by pylonpictures »

Hi there, this is my first post so greetings to all!

I am the writer, director and producer of a British feature film called Owen Parker which is about to go into production this June. The film is a dark psychological drama about a dysfunctional family, the script has been compared to Withnail And I and This Is England, which we think is pretty accurate!

We are looking for a Morris Minor, ideally white but we are open to other colours, 4 seater, to be featured in the film as the vehicle driven by the main characters. We would need the car for 3 days of filming, not necessarily consecutive, around the last week in July or in August (the schedule is still being worked out). The filming locations will be in Stone, Staffordshire (1 day), and around Manchester (2 days).

This is a very low budget production which we have pulled together over the last six years with help from some very talented people. Due to our small budget as payment we are offering everybody a profit share in the film based on the number of days worked. Therefore when we start to sell the film to distributors you will make money as soon as we do. We have a website set up so you can log in and see how much you are owed to ensure transparency in this. Of course we are able to pay fuel expenses, and everybody on set will be well fed and looked after. In addition we will also able to offer you high quality, high definition, professionally shot footage of your vehicle which you could use on a website or just to show off to your friends! We will also supply a copy of the finished film and a ticket to the screening.

You can find out more details about the film at:

Hi Kieran,

Having just done three days of filming (The King of Soho starring Steve Coogan) in both my Traveller and Convertible, I might be able to help you out but would require expenses (fuel at 40p a mile, accommodation as I'd have to travel to the shoot, plus any other costs incurred etc) plus £100 per day. That is the standard "extras" pay for vehicles on film shoots.

You'll struggle to get anyone for the profit share terms quoted as even the Coogan film had trouble getting enough classic cars to their locations and were very grateful when I turned up and even brought another Minor along for two days.

It depends on the days required as I also do weddings in the convertible. By the way, if someone else is driving will you arrange insurance for the shoot? And would you pay for any mechanical damage incurred by inexperienced drivers??

regards

John
