At low revs, when idling, and only when hot my oil light has started to flicker - goes out immediately when accelerator down. The dipstick says half way between min and max, so to start with ill put some oil in ofcourse, but what else could cause it?
The Idle speed is maybe to low, does the ignition light flicker or stay on when idling or when you put the clutch in when idling and warm. If it does, then the idle speed will need raised a bit.
It's the first signs of a worn engine.....but don't worry - it will go on for many a mile yet. If it hasn't had an oil and filter change for a while, now would be a good time.... and of course use 20W50 oil, and MAKE SURE the support plate and spring are present inside the oil filter casing....under the filter cartridge.
The idle speed is fine, at tick over just the occasional flicker of the red ignition light. It had an oil change recently, and the plate and sping were present. God, a worn engine? How long might many a mile be me wonders??!
If you are worried about the oil pressure then fit a gauge. Of course then you will not be able to take your eyes off it and will be worried about every little flicker. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
