Fitting draught excluder strip

I'm replacing the draught exclude strip to both doors - I don't suppose it matters whether the clips go onto the bodywork or inserted into the strip and then tapped onto the door rim? Is there a right or wrong way? Thanks, John

I use the later black push on excluders, no clips, stays put and does not fray

I would put the clips on the body first as they generally need a bit of assistance, from a hammer to go right on!

I would put clips on frame first as it is easier to position them where they are most needed e.g the sharp curves around the door latch area. The black rubbr is easy to fit but do think the fabric version looks more period. Don't cut it til you get to the end as you will find it takes more than you think to complet the whole thing.

Using a tent peg hammer (rubber head) saves ruining the soft fabric edge.

Just a tip: make sure you have thoroughly rustproofed, ie waxoiled or painted where the rubber strip is going to sit as the rubber will trap water under it.

I'm with Mike on this one. Use the push on rubber sort. Much easier to fit, doesn't come off and looks just as good and as there is no fabric covering it won't fray around the edges. Only downside is it's only available in black. I've got it on both my Lowlight and my Traveller and am very pleased with it.
