Passed the MOT today, first one for 27 years!
I am one happy bunny. passed first time, 4 advisories. Just got to sort out the taxation class now, they have sent the V5C back with PLG instead of Historic. Then get the tax and she is on the road again after 27 years.

well done..
as the car was off the road and probably not sorned at the time the historic tax was introduced it would not have been reclassified.. had the same issue with my MO.. got it sorted without a problem.

Had the same class issue with a mini cooper I put back on the road after about 15 years, was not a problem tho, I was told to take all my docs to a local dvla office, they changed the class there and then and were very helpful.

That's great, thanks all.
Now the teething problems begin. Just drove it 6 miles to and from MOT garage and it has oil leaks from the front of the diff, a rear damper and from the bellhousing that it never had before!

Funny you should mention sticking to the budget.
I revisited my initial estimate 2 years ago when I started. £2188 for parts alone to get it on the road.
Costs so far is £2518.
Just got to spray it and get carpets, bootlid and decent bumpers, at least it is a rolling project now.

What were the advisories?
On a side note - and I have learnt this - it pays to buy the best condition car you can in the first place.

Advisorys were wheel bearings slight play, and slight leaks from rear dampers. I agree with your advise but I didn't purchase it, the car has been in the family for 30 odd years and I am restoring it for my sister.
