Leaky fuel line!

Hi, does anybody else have the problem of fuel leaking out from where the fuel line from the carb and the nozzle on the float chamber lid meet? The jubilee clip at the end is as tight as it goes, the line is also snug but still it seems to be pushing fuel out (leaving a greeny brown residue all over the top of the float chamber lid). We've tested the float itself & it works. No apparent kinks/folds in the pipe either.

Someone on the MMOCYM forum suggested replacing the current rubber line with a stainless steel braided version(rubber inner). Does anybody have any recommendations? I've only found one on ESM- but they don't recommend it as the rubber's not reinforced- or Bull Motif, which is the same item.

There's an argument for using the rubber hose that's sold by motor factors and even Halfords by the foot or metre as "fuel hose". It may not look as smart as braided hose, but it has two great advantages: you can see when it starts to crack; and you won't stick sharp bits of stainless steel wire braid down your fingernails. It does come in several diameters, so you'll probably buy the wrong size first time. Guess how I know that.

Are you sure it isn't the float chamber overflowing?
There is a hole beneath where the pipe goes in that it comes out of.
Normally covered by an ally plate.

If the leak is coming from the flexible fuel line then my experience with Clips of the adjustable variety is that they (the clips) struggle to remain concentric when tightened.
This means flats when tightening leaving gaps.
The very best clips are of the permanent double ear "O" clip variety, this does mean a semi permanent fix, but they crimp concentrcally and dont leak.
My experience has been borne out on compressed air lines of higher pressure, i am pretty sure that will apply to fuel.
Its also worth checking the pipe is a good tight transition/interference fit over its related nipple.
All this assumes the leak is at the pipe.

i took the clips off and replaced them with small jubaliee clips they are wider and fit more secuerley

Jub clips are the ones that don't go completely round -especially the tiny ones...... Better with the proper fuel line clips I think.
