Voltage regulator
Have just been down the local motor parts shop to have the voltage checked as the voltage meter fitted to my car reads 16 volts whilst driving. the old boy at the shop said there is a way of lowering the voltage at the regulator but doesn't remember how. how do i do this as when tested his gauge read 16.4 volts. he also said it would boil the battery and start to blow bulbs etc.

Re: Voltage regulator
Exactly - it's far too high. Bet the lights were bright though!! It's detailed in the workshop manual. PM me if you don't have one...... You need a good multimeter to get it right.

Re: Voltage regulator
i dont know you how to test 16 v - it must like this - - for body + to the middle bolt that under the 2 fuses ,then check ,if it 16 too hight - it must about 13.5 to 14 - you can low it - the smoll bolt on the voltege reguletor - not the battery side - other one ,rotet about 2 mm - antyclock vice- then check-use good analog multymeeter- good luck
Re: Voltage regulator
That's a very standard voltage regulator - what do you mean by the 'Owners Manual' ? What you need is a Workshop Manual.......

Re: Voltage regulator
Dont worry about 16V , it is a small problem, rotate the bolt little to anticlockwise - then check, it must 13.5 to 14 ,but if it is 15v not a problem, because your country is cool[frame]

Re: Voltage regulator
Best get it down to 14 volts - with the engine revving of course! You can't adjust it while idling.
