Excellent! well done! - no worries starting on the handle now - always worth a go every now and again, espacially when in a supermarket car park - it really makes folks laugh when you do.

Sounds feasable, at least one of my late type ones in black came from a 1958/59 car so that fits in.

Hi,
As a postscript, here's the freshly refurbished starting handle. Ready for years more service.................... although I hope I don't need it that often!
Thanks for all the advice.
Mike.

Don't forget the occasional drop of oil inside the handgrip of the early handle.

Starting handles are so useful to have. Ideal for turning the engine over when setting the tappets, points and timing.

And for starting the engine sometimes... I got some funny looks at the petrol station last time I did it! (weak dynamo..)
