Engine Reconditioning

Post by Alex'n'Ane »

I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of any individual/company who offer engine reconditioning services, preferably around the liverpool manchester area, but would be interested to hear of any experiences anywhere in the country. (incase you didn't guess I am looking to get an engine reconditioned/ an exchange unit)
Thanks in advance.

the bare bones you can do yourself, and then farm out the machining work. There's a company near me, in Worcester, that will balance a crank, flywheel, clutch cover and front pulley, for £50, and another company in bromsgrove (near me too) that rebored my sisters 948. I recall that costing £300, but i'm not sure if that included the pistons or not.

Then you just need gaskets, shells, a new oil pump, and time.

Thanks, I will look into it, however having been bitten once reconditioning this engine which turned out to be rather more damaged than we thought when partially stripped I'm seriously contemplating a full new unit (effectively with a slight warranty)
