Oil Filter Leak

Post by oddbod »

Just got another Moggie, I know, but I just couldn't help myself! This one is a Traveller, and I've just begun to look around it to see what I want to improve or change on it. My old Moggie DOESN'T leak oil, this one does, from the oil filter housing it seems, but only when its running,is that a worry or is it possible to lessen or stop the leak,it has the original oil filter.

When you change the oil filter you MUST lightly smear both sides of the supplied rubber seal with clean engine oil. You only need hand tighten the filter.

First you must dig out the old seal - which many neglect to do. And make sure the spring and pressure plate are present and correct under the new filter when you fit it. I imagine you will be changing the oil anyway........

Thanks for the replys guys, I haven't taken off/changed an original style oil filter before and am not quite sure what it entails. I'll have a good read up before I proceed though. Yep an oil change is on the cards,as the engine was,and will be,an every day comparitively HighMiler
