have just aquired 1970 pick up and need a little help please

i would like anyone out there to answer a couple of questions 4 me
1. are pick up cab doors the same size as van or traveller doors?
2. how difficult is it to obtain cabin roof windscreen and rear window seals ?
3. which is the best make and more importantly the easiest disc brake conversion for this model.
4. although i have owned a couple of pick ups and have several morris 1000 handbooks i have never come accross one dedicated to the pick up does one exist? and if not which is the best morris thousand handbook for the pick up

1. Pickup doors are the same size as van doors and 4-door saloon doors.
2. Good question. Give the main supliers a ring. The windscreen seals are available, the cab roof ones should be, but I'm not sure about the rear window seal.
3. Ford disc brake conversion. It costs around £350 from most suppliers.
4. Not seen a user's manual, but I think the dedicated workshop manuals are/were available. All the controls should be the same so any Morris 1000 handbook for the same year as your pickup should do.

Hello MT61,
failing a Minor specialist not being able to help with the rear screen rubber, try a trim specialist such as Woolies who sell winscreen rubber and filler strips by the meter, use some sealer or superglue to seal the ends where they meet.

pick up rear window seals, esm at stonegate have them, they have all rubbers you need for a pick up.

they also do, tailgates, tilt covers and hoops, all repro.

the book you need is the van and pick up parts book, try ebay, i will find the book number for you.

the book shows all the deatails on how the body work goes together, as a lot of the inner cills and boxing plates are different to a 4 door anyway.

all van and pick up front doors are the same size as a 4 door.

when you say ford discs is there any particular make ie fiesta and is £350 supplied only and how many disc brakes would you get ie 2 or 4 and is there a list anywhere of specialists who do this work ?

£350 is the kit price and is based on Sierra parts made to fit the Minor, if you filled in your whereabouts we could suggest your nearest specialist that could do the work for you.

You only get 2 discs as it's a front brake conversion only. You don't need rear discs unless you are going racing

In answer to part 4, handbook are avialble for the LCV, as well as parts books Mech & Body also the correct BMC/BL workshop manual. In fact all 4 are now on 1 CD from the LCv register

I found a great way of getting your seal is to contact the auto windscreen repair center near you... I had... one specialist (I forget the name) replace Hebe's front window and rubber... easy

They charged £50 to replace the windscreen and rubber. - I have a £50 excess on my insurance company, but I'm sure if you ring a local specialist and ask them to source the part they should be able to...
