Max Wheel Size

Post by Lukus1 »

Hi

Could someone let me know the maximum size of wheels and rims/profile you could recommend? (1967 4 door).

Regards

as big as you can find with 4 inch PCD! With standard bodywork, i wouldn't go wider than 6 inch, but you can always modify the bodywork somehow (arch extensions) to cover any poke.

JLH do minilite wheels up to 15 inch in diameter. But the Minor on 'Pimp My Ride' had 20's if i recall!

That's 185 60 15 right? Sorry I have no idea what all these measurements mean.

185 = width of tread in mm

60 = sidewall height, as a percentage of the width. So 60% of 185 = 111mm

R15 = radius of rim in inches

I think JLH do a few different tyre sizes depending on what you want. Only a certain size will give exactly the same gearing, but if you've got a modified car, you might want a different wheel size to suit.

I have a garage find that I have slowly got working again but the tyres need replacing as they have perished so it is all still original.

Cheer for the help. One more thing will any 4 stud formation rims fit the morris?

No. Only 4 x 4 inch PCD. 4 inches is 101.6mm.

100mm may fit over the studs, but THEY ARE NOT SAFE.

As above - there are NO modern car wheels that will fit a standard Minor. If you want wider wheels - you need to find/buy wheels with 4" PCD as mentioned earlier.

If you're lucky! You may require a spacer between the hub and wheel to clear the top trunnion.

It is a set on e-Bay I am looking at. I phoned and asked he measured them and said they were 4inch. Maybe he wasnt checking accurately enough? 1.6mm out and my studs will fall off from what everyone is saying

They won't fall off per se, but they will experience too much strain under load (braking, turning...those times you really really want wheels on your car) and stand a good chance of shearing off, from what I understand. It's not any kind of safe.

bmcecosse, many mini alloy wheels are up to 7 inches wide, but only up to 13 inch diameter though.
