My '62 Minor has been fitted with the later plastic clear/orange front lights, but they offend me as they are too modern looking for my likes. I believe my model should have clear round lamps(the larger of the two types) and a twin filament bulb to act as side and indicator. However, although white flashers at the front may still be technically legal for this age car, I would rather have a combined side light with a "secret til lit" type orange flasher in the same housing. I am in the process of creating this using wedge type bulbs and holders from Durite, mounted on a reflective backing in a flush fitting Durite round clear lense fitment. If it works out I will post it for any like minded addicts! (not a rivet counting type, it just niggles me to see those BMC generic plastic things on the front of my car!)

Our other car is a 2009 Citroen C6 3.0 HDi a 'future classic' and far rarer than a Morris Minor!!

Discovered one of Jethro's trafficators not working so removed the bakelite switch to inspect it and it promptly fell to bits!
Fair enough I suppose for something getting on for 60 years old. Awaiting new switch from TomRoy, then I may be able to make some progress - Ho Hum

New trafficator switch arrived today.
Dead easy to wire up and both semaphore arms pop out and light up perfectly

If you could get both to pop out simultaneously as well as independently, you could pass it off as an early hazard warning system.

Knowing my luck with the car so far it wouldn't have surprised me to see both semaphores flapping up and down!
All good though and the switch was very reasonably priced when you see what the original types are fetching.

Got a set of chrome motorbike indicators for Jethro and was wondering if there is an optimum mounting position for the Lucas flasher unit I will be using.
There's loads of room on the bulkhead above the fuel pump next to the fire extinguisher/washer bottle but I was concerned that the heat in the engine bay might have an adverse effect on the flasher can and whether it might be better off under the dashboard inside the car.

I fitted mine under the dash board, sort of above the semaphore switch, theres plenty of room there and easy to get at. Some times you can also hear it ticking!
Too many Minors so little time.....

Fitted Jethro's flashing indicator set this morning at long last!
Straightforward job although it took an extra hour relocating wires from dead earthing points that looked perfectly OK until I put a meter on them.
Mounted the Lucas flasher can under the dash using a handy hole that was already in place and after a bit of snipping and crimping both sides worked fine using a standard on-off-on toggle switch and I have kept the semaphore indicators on their original switch and circuit.[frame]
