When you join the MMOC they send you a card with your membership number on it.

It might take 2 - 3 weeks to arrive, you should also get the club magazine

It would take 2 - 3 weeks to arrive in the UK but quite a bit longer to get to Sri Lanka.

If you join online you get an email to acknowledge receipt of payment. As Louise has said the membership card and number will take about 2 weeks to process.
