Interior Light, Door Switch

Hi All,
I have a bad conection on at least one of my door switches. I want to take it out to clean it up. I know that they screw out ('71 Traveller)but my question/concern is. Am I going to just twist the wire, particularly if it is rusty/dirty at the contact point.
Anyone done this, had any problems or do I just do it.

The wire is connected to the central plunger, and as long as you release the screwdriver every turn, it will just spring back (or you can rotate it between thumb and forefinger). Go for it.

If you take out the glovebox liner you can get your hand down the back to stop the wire twisting while you unscrew. You might need a short handled screwdriver, long arms or an assistant.

I had a similar fault today -unscrew with screw driver, but be carefull not to wind he cable up. if you unscrew 1 turn, and then rotate the plunger in the oposite direction you will be fine.

Mine was running my battery down- it just needed a clean up. I was able to do this without removing it from the car

Liberally spray WD40 behind it and operate the switch with your finger repeatedly. Try this before dismantling it (you might discover a field of rust behind which you wish you'd never known about).
