Morris Minor MM Tail Lamps - Replacement

Post by camilleri15 »

Hi,

I'm currently re assembling my 1951 MM and one of the things that needs replacement is the rear tail lamp Base (Early 803cc LMP117) and gasket and I can not find any for sale. So I guess I have to replace the whole unit. Can anyone suggest a good replacement for the whole units? Do the ones for the late 803cc and 948cc fit properly (LMP122)?

Thanks
Joseph

Bases for the L471 tail lamp are difficult to find, have you tried MMOC Club Spares? The gasket you should be able to cut from a sheet of rubber. The bases are left and right handed.
The L459 tail lamp for the late Series 2 and 948 would fit if that is all you can get.

Could a mould of an original be made and a new one cast in plastic or resin. I have some on mine but I cleaned up the corrosion and primed and painted and the corrosion has come back. I thought a plastic version would cure this, or does someone know how to stop corrosion reappearing on this type of metal
