Smiths heater fan rattle

Post by jagnut66 »

Hi,
My Smiths (old round type) heaters fan rattles when idling (when I speed up the sound goes away) and has done for some time. I just wondered if anyone knows of a fix for this? Are they adjustable or does it simply need tightening up (and how do I do this)? I can take the casing off but can't see a way to rectify this. I have noticed that when I push on the unit with my hand it stops rattling, could it just need packing further back (towards the bulkhead)?
Many thanks in advance for any help / advice.
Mike.

Well done, I have cured several rattles using similar methods.

why is it that some things only rattle when you have your hands full driving and the mrs just doesn't have the patience to press where i ask her to (on the car that is   )
