Split Screen Installation

We just installed the split screen on the moggy. I ordered new rubber...and when it was fitted, there still remains a gap of about 1cm from the body to the rubber! The rubber doesn't seem to go any further in. Has anyone encountered this problem before?

yes everybody who has fitted the new rubbers its as good as it gets just fill the gap with seelant do a search been discusssed may times.

I see what you mean....it's depressing reading al that. Someone's sending you postcards from Malta! You should have been giving some professional advice than no doubt about that. If you can do the trick I'll get you a ticket to Malta....and when the Morris is ready I'll drive you back to England.... Fair enough

I found the postcard last time I was in Malta, don't suppose that you have seen the car. .1952 Series MM
I am not one of the windscreen fitting experts, I had mine done professionally and it still leaks, rubbish pattern rubber. Incidentally the s/steel windscreen surround is not available so if you still have yours do not lose it.

Believe it or not, I'v never seen an mm in Malta before! The Morris 1000 were quite common on the rounds but now you don't see them very often either. That photo was taken years ago i think. That morris still has the old number plates on and now we have been with the European number plates for at least 15 years I think.

Unfortunately I don't have the w/screen surround. I'll have to fill up the gap with some silicone. Hope it won't be an eyesore .

You will not need silicone where the trim fits.

I'm not sure if I understood properly. When you say Trim you are referring to the interior right?

I was refering to the trim which fits in the rubber around the outside of the screens, You can see it on my green MM

So you suggest i leave the gap empty? ( i don't have the trim to fill the gap.)

Yes, it is just a slit in the rubber, the trim is purely decorative. There are a lot of Series MMs and 2s without it.
