Winter Hibernation Ends !!!!!!!!

Post by Courthouse/Tom »

Just woke Nuffield,my trusty Mog Minor,up,from his winter sleep.Since end October he's been resting in my garage, but after a quick look under the bonnet, and a check of his tyre pressures, i decided it was time for him to see daylight again.
Disconnected his solar charger, sat down, got cumfy ,key in dash, choke out, turned key,and hey presto,he burst into life.Brakes were fine,so it was the open road and blue sky for him.30 minutes later return home.It makes you realise once again how brilliant these simple, uncomplicated cars are to drive. One word sums them up------------BRILLIANT. :D :D

If you don't drive them all the time, less chance of complaining of the noise and discomfort! :D

Nice and warm and dry today so got the grease gun out and gave the trunions a treat. Car has only been in the garage since early Jan as it's not going out on salted roads, but like Courthouse/Tom's it started first time and purred away :)
Our other car is a 2009 Citroen C6 3.0 HDi a 'future classic' and far rarer than a Morris Minor!!

The 'moggie' has been replaced with another 'classic' a 1953 Citroen Traction Avant 11BL

As they should be. Minors, like any car, are much more reliable with everyday use.

Battery charger on brackets on garage wall, extended battery leads. Just open bonnet and connect up.

Portable battery pack, even easier.

Or at least it would be, except in my case, cos my car is knackered and won't start, still can't figure out why lol; cleaned the fuel pipes and carburettor today, so that has been eliminated from the investigation, but still no wiser.

Battery going flat ruins it - the solar charger is the ANSWER - well worth the ~£15 including postage......

Do you get enough solar in your part of the world? And what if it is raining on the day that you want to use the Minor?

Minors are great in the snow, find an empty car park and practise skid control
