I've just accidentaly bought one. It is missing a couple of bits for the sidevalve engine and I wondered if anyone here was a pre-war Minor owner and would be able to give me some pointers.
Looks kinda like a Bentley Blower that didn't eat green vegetables whilst it was young.
I havent got one, but that looks class!! I know of 2 that are quite local here if you dont have any luck. One is supposed to be the oldest pre-war minor known and the other has a sort of boat tail body.
It seems to be a 1932 model with a 4-speed and the sidevalve rather than the "Cammy" engine of the 1929-31 cars. I'm missing a small alloy casting from the right side of the block, rather like the same side casting on the MM engine but more elongated. I could maybe make one but would like to get some links to websites or contacts with owners in case there are some spare ones 'out there'.[frame][/frame]
My father had a pre-war Minor saloon - a 1934 I think. I always remember the "oldly" smell it had mingled with the smoke from Dad's pipe. One oddity I remember was the pump-up seat bases ! One day the old Minor disappeared to be replaced by a Series E.
I saw this one on ebay and if only I'd had the space!!!I could have been seriously tempted. It looks like a lovely little machine. Hope you enjoy it and good luck with getting it sorted and on the road.
Try the Morris Register and the PreWar Minor Register for any help you may require.
