Can anyone tell me the technical term for the triangular chassis piece above the rear spring on my van it needs replacing and are they available ?

Springs on the LCV are mounted on the chassis.. Can you post up a picture of the problem area?

From your description, it sounds like part of the rear body that sits on the chassis and is bolted down.

From you description I think its the bump stop. I dont think its available but it shouldnt be difficult to make.

To be honest you probably wouldnt even miss it if you took the rusted remains off. The LCV suspension is so hard anyway, I dont think the bump stops even get used.

Nice cooper btw, what engine has she got. My parents have just finished a 1960 MK1 morris mini minor, same colour scheme as yours actually white with a black roof to give it the cooper look, buts shes only a 848

yes steve i think your right it i thought it may be a chassis strengthener on the curve of the chassis and wondered what it was .

Yes, it'll be the bump stop. They are available, but easy enough to make if you've got means of folding steel. Base needs to be a 3mm thick and the folded body can be 1.2mm - 1.6mm not too critical. Wether it gets used or not depends on your springs and the loads you carry - I've seen them well battered!
