brushable seam sealer vs cartridge

Is there any difference between brushable seam sealer vs PU cartridge or is just application use? read somewhere that the pot life is short once opened for the brushable-Is this true?

Only time I seam-sealed a car was a brand new Mini bodyshell - and it was a 'rope' of thick/plasticy material which had to be worked into all the seam joints with fingers. I can't see 'brushable' material being any use at all.......

Cartridge can be brushed as well once applied to area. Messy but useful stuff. Cartridge tend to be cheaper to.

In the trade we use brushable sealer all the time, the cartridge stuff is Ok to use but usually find you can't get cartridge gun in place, with a brush you get right into the joints, with a cartridge unless you are very good you will only plant it on the surface unless applied with a push action

I used brushable sealer on Mog. I made sure to buy the best I could find. The can was a US quart, and allowed me to cover every seam I needed to seal (top and bottom of the floorpan, both chassis legs, sills...every seam on the underside, essentially) before running out. Take your time, and make sure to brush evenly and firmly. Put a big glob on first, because it's very difficult to paint some on and try and paint more over it.

It is true that the brushable sealer hardens over time inside the can, but this process was so slow -- circa six months -- that it didn't cause any difficulty.

I use both brushable and tube seam sealer, the tube one if I'm sealing up all the welds and joins in the sill structure for example. The tube type is more difficult to brush than the brushable one, so a scraper or finger in a glove is better to smooth the join from the tube variety.
