I think that the spare crankshaft in my garage is an 803. It has been reground but I don't know how much.

I thought this too, however i have done a bit of research on the net looking at compressions i am aiming for, for my engine.
andf at a compression ratio of 7.2:1, the psi comes out at about 106

so 120 wasnt as bad as we thought...
could this be the cause of damage? or isnt it high enough
If its not working your hammer isn't big enough

It's desperately low........ but nothing to do with bang noise........
