morris minor - condensation / damp problem

i have a 1966 morris minor and why do it get wet in the car the inside window are very wet and miss on them and my seat get wet and cold the car is on on the road all the time

Dont drive through the car wash with the windows open its just condensation maybe because you have the heater on and with the cold weather the temperature change creating a damp atmosphere

Is your car left out or garaged? Are any of your carpets damp? That is the most common cause of condensation inside.
When you wipe the condensation don't do it with a rag or sponge and then leave that in the car, wipe with kitchen roll and then throw it.
Put a fan heater in the car for a while and leave the windows open 1/2 an inch. The warmth suspends the damp in the air then the windows let the moist warm air out.
None of this will cure it completely but it will help.

As above -it's leaking ! There must be water inside the car - if the carpets are wet - take them out - and look under the rear seat squab - is it wet in there? Is it wet in the boot floor area? You need to find where the water is getting in........... If everything is sodden it will take a LOT of drying out.

I get water on the front passenger side floor mat after heavy rain when the car is sitting outside. I have tried to find how it gets there but no success. Any ideas where the pool of water comes from and how can I stop it? I assume it gets in somewhere at the back of the bonnet.

Hinge mount holes/wiper holes/leaky screen rubber etc etc

Check for small gaps around the 1/4 light area (between the window upright and 1/4 light.) A small amount of black sealant can sometime stop the leak. Check the condition of all rubbers first.

Front or rear mat?

If it's the front then likely to be front screen rubber seal and/or windscreen wiper mounts.
Water in the rear footwell is likely to be rear window seal and/or side windows / sill but could also be from rear of front door (if it's a 2 dr saloon) or rear door (4dr saloon) or even holes in the floor under the rear seat cross-member.

I don't know if this will help but;

My Mum had a severe condensation problem in her 1961 4-door saloon. The drivers footwell was always damp (sodden) after rain. It took me a while to solve it, but it was an incorrectly fitted front wing.

There is a semi-circular shaped drain on the wing just forward of the windscreen which fits into a similar shape on the frame (sorry, don't know the name of the specific part). There was a large gap at this point and instead of the water going down the channel, it was running into the driver footwell.

Wait for a hot day, and remove everything! get everything nice and dry. Whilst its drying get someone to hold a hose and spray the car with water in various places ( like the windscreen corners etc) and look for leaks. Is it a convertible? ( going off your sig pic) If so, it could be the roof.

just changed my second set of salt bowls,it's surprising how much condensation they absorb,carpets nice and dry in the side veranda ,looking forward to a nice dry summer !!!
