Repairing inner wheel arch
About to start repairing the body work on my newly acquired minor. The top of the inner rear wheel arch is quite rotten to the extent that the flanges where the vertical section joins to the top are mostly gone. (hope that makes sense) Would it be acceptable to just cut it all out and join the vertical to the top with flat plates thereby eliminating the flange or would it be better to include a flange on the repair sections to make it look more original and connect to the bits of flange that are left.

The flange is a little annoying, and I'm sure removing the rust trap would be a good idea. I kept them on mine just so it looked more original from the inside. Also the flange is a little useful when fitting the wings as you can hang the wing on the flange then line up the screws[frame]
