Hi there new member to the forum

Post by Alessandro »

Hi there my names Alessandro and I am a new member to the forum Would just like to ask all the gurus advice out there on tyres. I am currenty having my rims redone for my saloon and would like to know if anybody has had any dealings with camac tyres 145 r 14 are they any good ? or should I go for the Bridgstone tyres ?. My wife uses the car everyday for work so naturally I dont want to skimp on decent tyres.

Hi and welcome to the messageboard!

I had camacs fitted on my blue saloon for a while and didnt really like them, felt a little vague and slippy on corners. I changed to Nangkings and found them much better, I think they are only available in 155/14. I havent used bridgestones so cant comment :D

Opinions on tires are somewhat subjective. Part of this has to do with the flex of the sidewall -- from stiff to soft. If you hit the corners fast and hard you're going to want stiffer tires to stay alive. If you drive conservatively you might prefer the softer ride of a more flexible sidewall. For me a nice compromise (and a quality tire) is the Toyo version. I believe they are readily available in the UK. Here's another thread with more opinions: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... es#p345134

I can only comment on what I have read on Mini forums - where Camacs do not get good press. I would use something else....
