Remove chrome/metal strips from '62 Traveller rear windows

Hi,

I'm just new to-day to this forum.

I'm in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia.

I am restoring a 1962 Traveller.

The chrome/metal fittings on the rear sliding windows have deteriorated, as has the rubber, and need replacing.

Two pleas for help:

1. How do I get the chrome/metal fittings safely off the glass?

2. Where might I be able to purchase replacement chrome/metal and rubber?

A strip of inner tube would probably do to replace the rubber, however it may be easier to find complete windows at an auto jumble or the national rally than try to sort what you have.
To get them off I'd get someone to hold the glass as tightly as possible then slide a hammer along the glass to tap the strip off.
