the block casting number is 12G1279.
The engine is a full hybrid of parts, the front cover is off one engine, the head from another, the flywheel from another, dizzy drive and brackets from another etc etc.
looking up the number 12G1279 shows me the origin would be the Austin 1300 BUT.... this block is not an 11 stud head so it isnt the GT but then the blocks were the same it was the cam and the extra drilling anyway.

But all that aside, I will vent the block tomorrow and we will see how she runs.

t clearly IS a Spridget engine with the rear labyrinth seal. :)

Ok, now I fully understand the "labyrinth oil seal", I have refitted the crank case breather and I will keep an eye on the problem.
;)
I have attached a jpg explaining it for those (who like me) did not understand this system.
