A bit of an odd one which I'm sure someone will be able to tell me quickly where I've gone wrong. I have replaced top and bottom trunnions on both sides of the car and - I think - I've replaced the rest of the front suspension exactly as it was. Except that I can't now bolt the torsion bar levers to the crossmember - on both sides of the car, the small ends of each lever are tight up against the floor. Is there something straightforward I should now be doing to get the levers in the righ position or have I inadvertently adjusted something I shouldn't have?

You should have bolted them on first! Somewhere in the middle of the plate will do. Then fix the lower arms - temporarily will do - no need to put ALL the bolts in -and sit the car on the ground. Give it a bounce or two - and decide if the height is about right or not. It will settle after a few days/miles - but you decide now if it's near enough or needs another spline up or down... Then put all the bolts/nuts on and run it for a while. You can fine-tune later at the rear arm with the multi-hole plate if necessary.

I found this when I rebuilt the front suspension with all new bushes when I had carefully marked the splines. I put it down to the new rebound rubbers being thicker and not letting the suspension drop as much. I found I could lever the rear arms down enough to get the bolts in and the ride height was fine.

There's more range of movement - and a longer lever - at the front end. Fix the rears and then assemble the fronts.
