hi im rebuilding my 1098 ordered all the bits for a rebuild and the first part i start to put back on the oil pump ,they told me a mini pump is the same so why does it not fit is it me ????????can someone put me right ????
davey boy
What do you mean it doesn't fit? Is the drive that goes into the back of the cam wrong or is it physically too big to sit under the engine backplate cover or something else?
Is there a reason why you didn't buy the correct one for the car? The mini one had various cam drives as mentioned above, and I think the diameters differ depending on model.
What pump did you order -and where from ? There are quite a few 'Mini' pumps - one of them will fit......... Also - what cam is in the engine - the original one, or have you changed it for something else?
Thanks for your replys i bought all the parts from morris minor centre birmingham.
the pump is the rite size but the old one has a cone shape on the end of the cam so the pump sits onto it and the pump sits flush with the block but the one i have is flush and wont sit flush with the block hope this makes sense.
the engine is original 1098 and has never been apart.
