vinyl card replacement

Post by cscott »

Where do you get the vinyl and foam from to replace worn and damaged material for the various panels in 2 door saloon. I was going to try and clean the existing ones, but they are not matched and there is some stuff on the vinyl that is a very stubborn stain. Also the hardboard is very warped and thus I have decided to redo this as well. Also where do you get the thin foam padding from?
What is the recommended glue for this and also what do you waterproof the hardboard with ?

the usual suppliers will supply all the trim / foam and panels you need ( with the exception of some rare colours I believe).

They are made by a company called Newton Commercial but the panels do not come cheap..

You can have a go a repairing your own panels practical classics did an article on it last month.

Hmm they do seem quite expensive, but probably better than I can do. Still going to have a go myself. Will try and get hold of the magazine. Do you know where you can get the vinyl itself from. I am not overly bothered if it is an exact match to what was originally on the car. In fact I suspect none of what I currently have in the car is original anyway. The body is Rose Taupe.

the lovely people at Woolies have a huge range of colours on vinyl. Plus they do the foam (is memory serves) and the mill board as well, so its worth a look.
