Hi I'm Luke and have just joined the forum, first time venturing from the Australian Morris Down Under Forum and just thought I would introduce my self and cars a little

My first car: An Australian assembled 2-door 1000 in Valley Green, with 56000 miles on her upon purchase and now around 90000
Which I still own today

My Series MM Highlight on the trip home on the day of purchase, had a major problem of fuel evaporation and had to stop every 10mins (now sold and in Tasmania)


After a few months work including rust repairs, a bare metal respray by me, and a new interior, that wasn't to most peoples taste

And well here is my traveller, Recently purchased off benb, who described the car as really rusty, and well it did have a bit but I was pleasantly surprised with how little it did have. What I had planned for the car from the description is totally different to the course it is now taking, She left the factory Smoke grey, and featured Duo tone interior, I believe she is a late 62 or early 63.



Here she is now, sand blasted, 1 subframe rail, new floors (3 pieces) and a few other pieces welded in here and there.

Appart from my 2-door 1000 I have not seen a better pair of doors, no rust at all not even in the bottom

Just wondering is there a blue print or accurate measurements/dimensions for the timber?

I would like to see some more pictures of that 2 door with the white line tyres and the rear spats!

Thank you for the wood suggestions, I am aware they can be brought new from England and would be around the $5000aus mark, however, I wish to use the car as a daily driver and it will be parked out in the weather so i was thinking a alluminium frame but I see what happens down the track. And thank you for that LouiseM I shall get in contact with them soon.

That is such a cool look, very '50's California. It really works as a package with the rack and surfboard for the finishing touch. Nice plates too! Unfortunately it would be difficult to pull of in the cold damp countryside of the UK (except maybe at Newquay in the summer)

How convenient do you find that door mirror? I would like to see how it's fitted.

Fits on rather simply without any modifications to the Morris Minor and fits to the two screws on the window frame, It maybe worth having a seat in somebodies (I think there is a few people in England with them now) car withthem fitted some people don't like the view. Also be warned some may not have enough gap between the frame and the gutter, I know my series MM didn't! All you need is a "hot rod Peep Mirror" this one is 4inch but they come in other sizes (I know they can be purchase off ebay from there) , if you only have short screw in your window frame, you then need to take a visit to someone that has a few spare frames and find some long screws. When you get the mirror you will find that the bracket that mounts the mirror to the car is U shaped, you will need to hammer the side with the two screw holes flat the countersink the two holes, find the correct adjustment and srew the mirror to the mount then scew the mirror to the frame. Too easy

But will be covering a lot of miles in a hire car in a months time, We arrive in NZ 12th Jan then Aus 22nd Feb, loads of things organised to make the most of our time, got a trip planned to Bright then Mildura then Boambee Bay then upto Coolangatta Q/land, all by car, then a flight to Perth to see friends, then the long drag home.
Be nice to meet any friendly people in NZ or Aus for a beer
