Why are they so damn expensive?
I find it to be a bit of a joke that two essentially pressed steel panels welded together could cost £150. The car only cost me £600.
I bought a stainless fuel tank for an MGB a couple of years ago for less than £150!
Even a normal MGB tank is only £52.00 or nickel plated one £59.50 all inclusive of VAT.
How much for a stainless Mog tank? £500?

biffabacon,
Also consider that they last so long and many people would buy a second hand one rather than new (I have had a spare tank for 10 years but will probably never need it). The tank bottome half is rathewr deep drawn which makes the tool very expensive, and requires a pretty substantial press. The fact that it's not a high volume part pushes the prices up (cost of tool divided by number of parts..)

Well I thought they were reasonable at £80 especially as they last so long and in the last 6-8 years I have only heard of one person who had to get a replacement in our branch and I think he got a second hand one.Why are they so damn expensive?
Cheers
