Crankshaft damper
Be quick - there are two on ebay right now and cheap too! I haven't seen any for ages. But just be aware that they can sometimes wear on the keyway, and then they are worse than useless......

Re: Crankshaft damper
Does the 1275 damper fit the 1098 engine?

I didn't realise they were that rare or uncommon? I just got one from my local mini specialist.

Yes!! Reading the Bible, His Wizardness states that the damper needs to be tuned to the particular engine....But no-one ever told BMC that! A case of anything better than nothing, I guess!M25VAN wrote:Does the 1275 damper fit the 1098 engine?
Re: Crankshaft damper
The same damper was fitted to all the later Mini engines - 998 or 1275. No 'tuning' required. The early 1098 East West engines were all fitted with an earlier and arguably better two-part damper, but BMC never fitted the damper to the North South engines - miserable bu99ers....... They are no longer available new - good second hand ones are normally hard to find..... Are you sure you have a 'damper' Alex - and not just a steel pulley?
