1956 traveller 'special'

Hi Well I thought I'd start a thread on my new motor.
It's a 1956 minor traveller with a blown 350 chevy engine, narrowed 9" full tube chassis, NOS, wheelie bars, it's totally mental to drive and will be back on the road before xmas, and will get to some shows next year. any how I'll let the pictures to the talking.

In 2001 hotwheels made a model of the minor and I got one with the sale!
I plan to use and abuse it. at the mo I'm just learning about the car and cleaning everything

Looks amazing James!!! It must be fun trying to see past that little turbo sticking out of the bonnet :D

Last year there were about 6 series 11 travellers parked together at the national, next year yours should be there too

with twin holleys on top :wink:

Took off alternator today to test tomorrow hopefully it's just buggered and not a wiring problem :roll:

Totally freekin awesome, have you been down the 1/4 mile yet? what'll she do? is that a 4.71 or a 6 and is the nitrous hooked up. Just love it.

HI, No i haven't put it on the strip yet, but has been in the past, does a nine second 1/4 mile, its a 4/71 blower and yes the NOS is plumb in :lol:

yes defo a move over im coming through picture!
I fitted new alternator tonight(old one broken) and ready'd it for it's mot tomorrow Also all insured for £321.18, valued at £15,000 which ain't bad with all mods declared. So tomorrow I'll have a blast on the street see what happens.

Well the alternator was buggered so fitted a replacement, then did the mot which passed :lol:

since getting the car the starter sounded dry and unhealthy and finally gave up the ghost, so I sourced a HP one and it was delivered two days later(excellent service) I fitted it and it's perfect. I have however blown the inlet manifold gasket :roll:
and so the blower is going to come off before xmas to replace it, SBC are known for this and from what I can see it wasn't done very well. Still I'm happy that it went while still close to home. although it still pulls like a steam train on steroids, I haven't had it over 4000rpm yet :o I post some more piks soon and doa video :lol:

What a superb motor.
Might be time to consider ditching the drum brakes if you don't have a a parachute to slow it down.
Actually, I have just realised that my standard 1098 car might be quicker than yours on the public highway if you have the parachute. What a pain, everytime you come to a set of lights you open the parachute to slow down and then have to pull over to repack it. I'd be long gone. Stick to the drum brakes.
I also worry about the poor pedestrian mowed down because you failed to see him hiding behind the blind spot created by the minor change to the bonnet but hey, whats a few dead pedestrians if it means you can cruise in this.
I wonder if Issigonis had this engine in mind when he added the extra four inches to the cars width.
The old brain matter is going into overdrive now - need to take a rest and allow someone else to take over.

funny enough I had to drive it about 10 miles today, to the people who are fixing my inlet manifold gasket,and topping up the NOS bottle :roll: apart from the poo weather it wasnt to bad, it has a 3500 stall converter so when you drive it you have to maintain 3500rpm for it to engage the gear which is interesting. I didn't blast it due to the gasket issues. but i will when i do the return journey :evil: it seems to run hot which i'm going address asap maybe a new aluminum rad :D
