4th gear whine
hello does anybody kno wwhy my car whines in 4th gear when its gets to around 40 mph + its really bugging me now i changed the oil on the axle as i thought it could be that im shure its not the gearbox had a replacment engine and it still does it anybody got any ideas
Re: 4th gear whine
Does it whine all the time, i.e. when under load and while coasting, uphill and down? Does it stop if you depress the clutch? Is there any difference if you corner? or touch the brakes?
If it is differential whine, caused by wear, then changing the oil will probably make no difference.

Re: 4th gear whine
sounds like it might well be the diff. Does it continue to whine at higher speeds?
