annoying wheering noise
for many years Primrose has had an annoying wheering noise.
i have tried many things in order to pin point the exact cause/location, but i am still perplexed.
i initially thought it was the drive train, so over the years i have replaced the following (as they have broken or worn out)
- Engine
- gear box
- diff
- all wheel bearings
- all brakes
now the noise only seems to occur when the car is under power, if i take the car out of gear and free wheel down a hill, i get nothing but the sound of the wind and no wheer.
the only thing that i haven't touched is the prop shaft.
so any ideas what on earth it could be?

The driveshaft joint.
It has replaceable bearings.
It has replaceable bearings.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Re: annoying wheering noise
Searched -and can't find 'wheering' - except it does seem to be used in motoring forums........ What does it mean?? Anything to do with lemons???

lol, nothing to do with lemons (though Primrose is yellow)
i cannot really describe the sound, its not a grinding sound or a whizzing sound (such as a fan blade sound) its a simple wheering sounds, sort of like a washing machine on full spin but it only occurs when the car is under load, letting it free wheel down a hill gets rid of the noise all together.

nope, thats been replaced atleast 3 times since i had the car and its always been there (the noise that is, not the exhaust)
Re: annoying wheering noise
clutch release bearing, does it go off when you lay your foot on the clutch whilst under power, just to slightly touch the bearing to the pressure plate.

thats new as well, the entire clutch mechanism is new, from the pedal rubber to the clutch mechanism its self (including the thrust bearing) and it was there before i replaced all that.
