dampers

Post by cadetchris »

the damper on the front passenger side of Primrose is knackered and leaking very badly.
when i come to replace it, how do i get the fulcrum pin out of the damper arm end?
what's the likely hood ill shear one of the bolts owing to it being rusted inside the hole?
and finally, should i replace the other side as well, just to even it up?

Hopefully the pin will come in the replacement damper - so try to arrange that now. But it's not an 'impossible' task to get the pin out of the old damper - heat will probably be involved..... And start to loosen the 4 bolts now - see if they are willing to unscrew - and squirt in good release oil now - lots of it! Don't leave them loose obviously but a little loosening and retightening will make the job easier on the day! If only one leaking - just swap that one.
