insurance
Hi, I bought my lovely Morris minor van to help advertise my business, set me apart from other gardeners and because I prefer driving old cars. I am however now having real problems getting class 1 business insurance for it. Lancaster and Carole Nash won't touch it and Footman James will only give me 3,000 miles a year.Which now business has grown ( the theory worked)is not be enough for the business side and certainly won't be enough as the van is my only car.Can anyone suggest anyone else who would be able to insure it as otherwise I am going to have to sell her and buy a transit like everyone else. Hope someone can help. Kelly

Assuming that you are a member of the MMOC, then flag the problem up with the office at Derby. I can't promise that they will be able to help, but they will do their best to speak on your behalf. It is important that the club is made aware of this type of problem in order to ensure that we are getting the best deal for Members. I hope that it works out for you.

Re: insurance
Try Rh Insurance - http://www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk and let us know the result

Re: insurance
Hi Thanks for the input. I have tried Norton and RHclassics and still had no luck. I have managed to find insurance with Adrian Flux limited to 9,000 miles so that is ok for now. But I will contact derby and if they can't help maybe they can at least warn others how difficult it is to run a classic car that is used everyday for business. Although I can't see how driving locally to different gardens on little back roads means I need different, more expensive insurance than someone who commutes to an office in a city every day but that is another battle. Cheers for your help. At least I don't have to sell her yet.

Kelly,
Very strange, I've just renewed my insurance and I got the opposite to you. Lancaster quoted and Footman had nothing.
I'm is the same position as you, needing private and business use insurance. I got the best deal from Sureterm Direct, higher than last year by 50% @ £170 but I've got 3k miles business and 3k private. John

Re: insurance
I bought a Minor van in March because i'm a gardener I used to have an A35 van which was insured with RH but when I bought the Morris van RH would not insure it but they did the A35 with no trouble and Footman James was the only one that would insure the Morris with unlimited mileage and breakdown cover.I tried several insurance companies before I had luck with Footman James. If Footman James had not of insured the van I would have sold it straight away.
