Hi all, can anyone give me some pointers on a new old stock cluch i bought at the morris minor owners club meet, i bought this from one of the large main stalls at the meet, it has 1098cc written on the box of both the cover and the seperate box for the plate, however they fit my 1098cc but it doesn't work (drags) i since bought a new clutch from esm as i had to get it sorted, i compared the new clutch to the nos clucth the pressure plate looks the same, the centre plate looks slightly different i also tried mixing the components to see what was playing up, i think it could be for a 1000cc a series, are these slightly different?
This is the trouble with new old stock you don't know where its been and whos been messing about with it, could have been put in the wrong box, could have been made faulty when new and is why it was in the stores for years, with items like this for the work involved its just not worth the hassle, any advice, let me know, i will try to get the part numbers of the boxes tomorrow.
Cheers

Re: NOS Clutch advice
1098 plate is 7.5 inch diameter. 948 is different, but i can't recall the diameter off the top of my head.
the 1098 cover is trapezoidal when viewed side on, and the 948 one is like a thick disk with spring 'turrets' or 'chimneys' sticking up from it.

thanks, the pressure plate looks exactly the same as the new one i bought, yellow springs, same size etc,and has the same part number as an old pressure plate i have, the centre plate is the same diameter but the middle hub with 4 springs on appears too 'bulky' if you know what i mean, i am going to get the part numbers and see if i can get some more specific details, i think it could just be faulty or boxed up wrong, never again waste of money!

918, 803 and 948 all use the same 6.5in clutch and thrust bearing. 1098 is larger clutch and different thrust
