How long after spray?

Hi all - well the restoration is half way through.. ish... all the welding is done anyway, and my credit card has been busy, reassembly starts on the underside next week, and so my thoughts turn to spraying! Now, I have no garage, and I think it's turning to cold to celly paint outside now... which might be a problem, so I was thinking about trying to rent some space somewhere for a few days - but need to know:

1. How long after a respray before one can risk British weather outside?

2. How long before one can put a little cover over it to keep it warm and dry?

I would do all of the reassembly work before painting,except under bonnet,cos you can be sure that you will accidently damage the paint whilst working on the rest of the car,do all the work then do the painting

Buy a cheap gazebo off ebay or poly tunnel

Depends what you paint it with and in what conditions. If it's finished in cellulose then at least a week if you put plenty on. Most modern day 2 pk's have a full cure time of 18 -24 hours using the correct activator. Cellulose is far easier for diy use but will require more elbow grease to get that show room finish when it cures. 2 pk will offer better protection from the elements and should require less effort to get that finish. Shouldn't really cover any car if you can avoid it (unless it's cocooned) hope this helps

It does, yes, thank you - I have got the loan of a garage for two weeks to let the celly 'cure', then it is all weathers time lol

Please paint it in 2pk, its easier to use then cellulose, gives a better and more durable finish and also you dont havent to give it a million coats like cellulose to get some paint build and depth ..... 2pk is great paint. also is thicker and less risk to get runs! Also you can flat two pack back like cellulose and use rubbing compund like g3 and will look the part! trust me... If you dont want to do 2pk at least think of doing the engine bay, as under the bonnet you dont want to do again and it will look stunning and all the edges shine and no cellulose dry areas with overspray!

Paul 2 pack contains cyanide and dangerous to spray without air fed mask etc

please DO NOT use 2pack unless you have air feed mask, filters to prevent the poison getting out into the air,or you are not bothered about your health or that of anyone else.

Cellulose should not be sprayed at home and if caught without filters etc risk a hefty fine not to mention the risk of the enviroment and ozone issues

Cellulose should not be sprayed at home? Then why do they sell it over the counter for home use?

Why dont you ask your supplier there is an eviromental protection act in Greater Manchester governing spraying at home ie residential homes etc disposal of waste thinners etc the laws have changed .I know this as a friend has just been fined for depositing his empty paint and thinner cans in his wheelie bin and got caught

it was steves friend who got caught spraying if you wait till February i am building a spray booth you can borrow with filters extractor etc

water base paint STILL NEEDS A 2PACK laquer on top its not weatherproof without it and needs heaters to dry off ,so back to square one.You basically can't legally spray paint at home,not something new been like that for years depends if someone complains,
