13 amp air compressor

Post by southerly95 »

I would like to upgrade my air compressor to a 100ltr 12cfm+ preferably a Clarke because of the VAT discount.

I can only use a 13amp supply where I am working at the moment which limits my choice.

The highest spec I can find is this:
http://www.clarkeservice.co.uk/manuals/ ... ressor.pdf

The manual says 13amp supply but Machine Mart people insist it's a 20amp supply minimum, does anyone have experience of this particular machine and whether it will run ok on 13amp? Many thanks, John

3HP= 3x 740watts = 2220watts 2220/230= 9.7 AMPs therefore I would trust the handbook.

It will indeed be perfectly alright on a 13 amp supply.

Its the start up surge which can cause problems. I suggest you get the shop to prove it will run on a 13A plug with 13A fuse fitted before you take it home.

You could always keep the compressor you have and add a 100ltr receive.
