Oil Presure Gauge

Post by davew1949 »

I'm thinking I need to fit an oil pressure gauge to Boris. I've seen some nice (?? - subjective I know) looking plasma/led electronic gauges on fleabay for around £15-£20. The advantage of these seem to be you don't need to run and oil line to the dashboard, just a wire from the sender which is provided.
Has anyone had any experience of these gauges? For example does it do the job? And importantly, does the sender unit actually fit the Moggie engine hole?

Any feedback welcome.

Without a brand name, it's hard to say, but I think oil pressure apertures (the hole in the block I mean) are generally standardized to one or two sizes, and generally I think electronic gauges are a little less accurate than mechanical ones, when both are in good condition (but it shouldn't be so inaccurate that you can't use it at all).

Well I decided to go for it and bought one of the oil gauges. It was

from McGill Motor Sports. I must say the delivery was excellent and it arrived the day after my order - brilliant.

It looks good, but I have to fit it yet. I will report back, hopefully with good news.
